Acrobats, Aussie Grit & a Cow Shed: AGT Champs Acromazing Tip Their Leotards to Kate Ritchie

Acromazing, the all-girl acrobatic group from NSW’s South Coast, win Australia's Got Talent 2024 and reveal touching support from judge Kate Ritchie. Plus, where the $100,000 prize is going.

Acromazing Win AGT 2024 – And Give Kate Ritchie a Gold Medal for Kindness

In a story that’s basically The Castle meets Cirque du Soleil, 19 fierce and flexible young women from a dusty “cow shed” in regional NSW just bagged the $100,000 crown on Australia’s Got Talent – and stole the nation’s heart (along with judge Kate Ritchie’s).

The Acromazing team dazzled with a routine so flawless Shane Jacobson called it “poetry in motion.” And honestly, it was less “talent show” and more “Olympic finals but make it fabulous.”

“The Cow Shed”: Where Dreams Are Bent, Flipped & Twisted

Forget your high-end gym with barista-made smoothies and climate control. Acromazing train in a corrugated iron “shed” with no heating, outdoor loos, and floors that were likely laid by Ned Kelly himself.

Coach Shelby put it best:

“It gets freezing in winter, boiling in summer. It’s rough – but it’s ours.”

They’ve got no proper sprung floor, but what they do have is heart, grit, and talent thicker than Vegemite.

Judge’s Choice: Kate Ritchie, MVP of Moral Support

While all the judges applauded the group, it was Kate Ritchie who left a lasting impression. According to gymnast Maddi and coach Shelby:

“Kate really meant what she said – you could feel it.”

Her comment after the finale?

“Absolutely faultless… I wanted to cry. I feel so proud of you.”

(Yes Kate, we cried too. Blame the allergies.)

Where’s the Cash Going?

While some acts might blow $100k on limos and lobster, Acromazing is keeping it as humble as their training digs:

  • Renovating The Cow Shed
  • Investing in better equipment
  • Supporting future generations of gymnasts
  • Possibly buying a proper loo (we can dream)

What’s Next for Acromazing?

Shelby says they plan to keep performing, spreading the gospel of acrobatic gymnastics far and wide:

“AGT showed that people really do love to watch this sport. Now we want to take it everywhere.”

They’re already planning shows and community events. If the flips don’t knock your socks off, the story behind them surely will.

Mic Drop Moment

As the team said:

“We hope this opens the door for young kids – and shows them you don’t need a flashy gym to achieve big things. Just guts, glitter, and a little help from Kate Ritchie.”

So, here’s to Acromazing: the team that put cow sheds on the map, gave Aussie gymnastics a glitter bomb of recognition, and proved that if you leap high enough – someone’s always there to catch you (even if it’s just with praise).
